I hope you’re all enjoying the summer and that those of you who are away on your summer vacations are having lots of fun in the sun. Personally, I can’t wait to travel to Japan. Only a month to go now! In the meantime I’m enjoying the little amount of sun we’re currently getting in the UK. Yes it’s been quite a disappointing summer round these parts, more overcast hot clammy tropical summer than tanning in the sun. But the sun has reared it’s beautiful head once in a while and combined with our little weekend trips around the UK, that means that I have finally had a chance to wear my new sunglasses.
I find it quite difficult acquire the perfect pair, not unlike shopping for a new pair of jeans. Often they just won’t fit my facial features. Some girls own a vast array of sunglasses, changing them everyday like you would your shoes or jewellery. Not me.
The fact that staring at a PC all day has destroyed my eyesight and that I now wear prescription glasses doesn’t help much either. To be honest I’m generally reluctant to splurge on a new pair of prescription sunglasses and just stick to the ones I have.
So when Glassesshop.com offered me a pair of prescription sunglasses to review, I jumped at their offer. After all what did I have to lose?
Glassesshop is an online eyeglasses retailer. They sell a wide range of cheap glasses, from prescription eyeglasses to Prescription Sunglasses. Although the company is American, I believe they manufacture their goods in China. You browse their collection and order the glasses of your choice online. The website is well organised and simple to browse. All their glasses are sorted into a plethora of categories so you can narrow your selection down pretty easily.
PRESCRIPTION SUNGLASSES FROM GLASSESSHOP.COM
If you need prescription glasses like me, you will have to get your eyesight tested beforehand, so that you can fill out their form with your specific requirements. Please note that only a select range of their sunglasses are available as prescription glasses.
CHOOSING YOUR SUNGLASSES AT GLASSESSHOP.COM
Now as I mentioned above it can be difficult to find a pair of sunglasses that suits your face. This isn’t made any easier when choosing your sunglasses online. Glasseshop does have a Try On feature, a little app that allows you to upload a picture of yourself to try on the glasses virtually. I will admit, that I didn’t make use of this feature and that I’m not entirely sure how useful it really is. I just ended up sticking with a shape and colour similar to the sunglasses I already owned.
VALUE FOR MONEY – GLASSESSHOP.COM
The glasses however are really cheap, with prices for sunglasses ranging between 8£ to 43£. Glassesshop.com also have a refund policy within 14 days of receipt, which excludes postage costs. So you could just send your glasses back.
POSTAGE AND ARRIVAL OF MY SUNGLASSES
In my case postage took a while ( a little over a month). And I was so excited to get my sunglasses and review them in time for the summer holidays that I contacted Glassesshop.com a couple of times to inquire where they were. Glasseshop.com was very helpful and sent me a code and a link to a website, in order to track the package. Considering that these prescription sunglasses were manufactured to my specific needs, I can’t really complain about the timeframe. I’m just very impatient.
The sunglasses arrived in a small sturdy cardboard box, that didn’t leave any room for them to get tossed about or crushed. Inside was a purple case that contained the sunglasses and a cleaning cloth. They also included a coupon with a special offer for my next order.
MY NEW HELOISE WAYFARER SUNGLASSES
The style of sunglasses I chose was the Heloise Wayfarer in Brown. The frame is a darkish reddish brown that suits the colour of my hair. The glasses have a round shape and are quite large, covering a good chunk of my face. They also have a cute little gold and orange detail at the hinge.
