Can you believe that it is already February? The sun is starting to rise a lot earlier and I no longer need to get up in the dark. It seems like the first month of 2015 passed in a flash and I cannot believe that I have now been blogging for an entire month. I haven’t however published a beauty post in a while. So I would like to share my make-up routine with you today. The Routine that I have been following religiously for the last two month.
Last December I felt like I needed a serious Beauty-Routine Revamp and therefore went and stocked up on a whole bunch of new Products for the New Year. I have now settled into my new routine and wanted to show you what is currently working for me.
I start off the day by cleaning and moisturising my face. However I recently wrote a blog post about My Skincare Routine, so I will not go into much more detail than that. Let’s just say, not much has changed on that front. I then go and make myself a coffee while I wait for my moisturiser to fully sink in.
SLEEK CORRECTOR AND CONCEALER PALETTE
I have pretty bad black circles under my eyes, so I start off my Make-Up Routine by popping some corrector from the Sleek Corrector and Concealer Palette under my eyes. The corrector is deigned to neutralise discolourations and camouflage dark circles. As you can see I have gotten through most of it in a little less than two months and am currently looking for an alternative to try out. Any suggestions are very welcome. I then use some of the concealer from the same palette to even out any imperfections, like little buttons, a scratch or a skin discolouration.
BARE MINERALS ORIGINAL FOUNDATION
Next I buff some Bare Mineral’s SPF15 Original Foundation onto my skin. I tend to shake some of the powder into the lid and then swirl my Real Technique Duo-Fibre Face Bruce in it. This way I can gently buff the powder onto my skin and build up the foundation to the required level. Some days I require a little more powder than others. Although I have dry skin I prefer using this powder other most liquid foundations. Unlike many liquid foundation the colour doesn’t become patchy or cakey other dry areas. It is easy to build and is surprisingly effect in covering blemishes. It is easy to top-up the powder in the middle of the day or simply run a brush across my face to redistribute the minerals. What I like most about this product though, is that it gives my skin a very natural finish.
BOURJOIS DELICE DE POUDRE
Next I highlight my forehead, cheekbones, nose and chin with Bourjois Delice de Poudre. It is very difficult to resist the sweet chocolate smell and chocolate bar appearance of this product. The powder has a very slight shimmer to it which adds a gentle glow to my face.
SLEEK FACE FORM IN MEDIUM KIT
I then use the Sleek Face Form in Medium Kit to contour my face. The bronzer is a lovely matte colour. I apply it around the edges of my face, along the jaw and under my chin. I then add some shadow and depth to my face by popping some of the contour powder in the hollow under my cheekbones. I always find it very important to buff everything in at this point.
SLEEK BLUSH BY 3 LACE PALETTE
The pigmentation of the Sleek Blush By 3 Lace Palette is pretty strong. So I generally add just a tiny amount of blush to my cheeks and then gently buff it in. It definitely freshens up my face and adds just a touch of colour.
URBAN DECAY NAKED 3 PALETTE
The Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette was a Christmas present from my mum and for this entire month, it’s been the only Eye-Shadow Palette I have used. The colour palette ranges from light pinks to darker browns and includes both matte and iridescent shades. The natural pink colours offer another variety to experiment without looking over-done. Perfect for a work environment. I usually begin with a wash of Strange over my entire eyelid. I then add a bit of Dust or Burnout for Depth. I then dust some Factory or Darkside into the crease. And finish everything off with a tiny bit of Blackheart along the lashline. The palette comes with a selection of primers. Unfortunately I used them all up. I am not entirely sure whether I’d rather experiment with a new product or buy the tried and tested Primer from Urban Decay.
BOURJOIS KHOL & CONTOUR EYELINER
Next I line my eyes with the Khol & Contour Eyeliner from Bourjois in 78 Brun. This Khol has a very soft and creamy texture that is easy to apply both to the inner and outer rims of the eyes. The colour is extremely intense. If done immediately it’s easy to smudge this eyeliner for a softer finish, but the colour still remains intact for hours.
RIMMEL WONDER’FULL MASCARA WITH ARGAN OIL
My current favourite Mascara is Rimmel’s Wonder’full Mascara with Argan Oil. The brush isfairly big but with relatively small spikey bristles. I love the consistency of the mascara and it coats my eyelashes perfectly without making them clumpy. The mascara goes on in one coat and feals pretty moisturising at that. I’m not sure whether the Argan Oil actually enhances my eyelashes but it is a nice little touch.
RIMMEL’S KATE MOSS LIPSTICK COLLECTION
Next I brush some highlighter onto my cheekbones, nose and chin with the Contour Brush from the Core Collection. The brush is pretty compact and it’s size works really well for these areas. furthermore as well as applying the powder the soft bristles smoothly blend in the highlighter.
